KRZYSIK WINS FIRST CAREER LATE MODEL FEATURE AT STOCKTON
GRANDE
PRAIRIE, ALBERTA (October 11, 2011) – 20 year-old Jamie Krzysik drove the Bill McAnally Racing
#16 Late Model to victory in the first 75 lap feature on
Sunday afternoon at Stockton 99 Speedway during the Fall
Classic open show. The 2010 IMCA Canadian National
Champion picked up his first career Late Model victory
in just his seventh career start.
Krzysik, a member of Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver
development, opened up the weekend by qualifying second
with a 14.142 second lap around the quarter-mile
bullring. The lap was just .02 seconds off of the pole
and after finishing second in his heat race he started
outside pole for the trophy dash.
Driving the #16 Isley Group Chevrolet, Krzysik led all
four laps to win the trophy dash to wrap up Saturday’s
activities with the twin 75 lap races set for Sunday.
Krzysik started the race fourth and ran fourth through
the lap six caution. The lap six restart saw the
leaders tangle and spin, with Krzysik snaking through to
move up to second place.
A
lapped car spun on lap 44 right in front of Krzysik to
bring out another yellow but the leader pulled away from
Krzysik on the restart. The caution came out again on
lap 54.
Krzysik took advantage of the leader picking the high
side to take the lead on the restart. The battle
continued as second place dove inside to go side-by-side
with Krzysik for nearly 10 laps.
Krzysik eventually pulled away to take the narrow win by
just two tenths of a second for his first Late Model
victory. The second 75 lap race had Krzysik starting
fifth and the race had few cautions forcing to Krzysik
to finish fourth.
“Jamie did a great job this weekend against some tough
customers at Stockton,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said.
“Now he will return to Roseville this week where he has
a shot at another win!”
Krzysik will race at his home track
Roseville’s
All American Speedway this Friday night as part of a
special event for NASCAR Late Models. A large crowd is
expected as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West races the
following night. Race fans can follow all the action
